Sonia Coletti was an educator at Massey Secondary School. She was also a dear patient of Dr. Meighan Valero. Sonia was a selfless, strong, generous & loving person and was always thinking of others and how she could help them.
On October 20th 2018, Sonia was in the hospital in critical condition after a 5 year battle with metastatic breast cancer. That night Dr. Valero received an email from Sonia's daughter Christina saying that Sonia was asking for her and wanted to see her. When Dr. Valero arrived at the hospital she discovered that one of Sonia's last wishes was to create a fund in her name in which we could help to support patients who were in need of adjunctive cancer care at Valero Wellness.
Recognizing that these services are not covered under OHIP and that not everyone has extended health benefits, she wanted to do her part to help others access the care that helped her cope with Stage 4 Breast Cancer for so many years. The Coletti family and Dr. Valero discussed plans to make her wish come true right then and there and within the evening, Sonia sadly passed just a short while after Dr. Valero left the hospital.
The Coletti Family and our good friends at Ocean Bottom Soap Company teamed up to create Sonia's Soaps. The proceeds from each bar of soap goes towards The Sonia Coletti Wellness Fund.
Thanks to Sonia's legacy, the generosity of the Coletti family, Ocean Bottom Soap Company and our incredible community we have helped to provide free treatments to those who have needed it most.
Soaps are available for $6.00 and scents differ annually based on availability.
